What a Weekend

I know the weekend isn't officially over yet, but in my household I think it may be winding down. We of course went to the farmers market bright and early Saturday morning, and then went into cleaning over drive since James Bonds best friend was heading our way. The Godfather (he is the Wee One's godfather, hints the name) gave us a call on Friday asking if he could come down and visit us. He had just gotten back from his deployment and didn't want to be in his furniture-less apartment any more. We of course said HECK YES!

The Godfather made it down late Saturday afternoon and left today. It was a nice quick visit. He got to see the Wee One for the first time in a year, and was amazed at how much bigger he is already. At first the Wee One wasn't so sure about the whole situation but he quickly decided The Godfather was a cool guy. He said he wanted to take us out to eat, so we chose a little place called The Cove.

It has been featured on the show Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives on Food Network TV. Well, we pulled up and the Godfather wanted to know where we had taken him. The restaurant is in the middle of a car wash and laundromat. You have to go through the laundromat to get to the ordering area, and then walk back outside to get to the seating area. Okay, it sounds sketchier that it actually is. On top of it, he saw the words Organic and thought, CRAP they took me to a vegetarian place. The Godfather was happily surprised when he saw all the variety of beef burgers he could order, hahaha.

I highly recommend their fish tacos, James Bond had the lamb burger which made him think of his time in Morocco, and the Godfather had a yummy buffalo burger. The Wee One ate the standard child's restaurant food: chicken strips and fries.

When we got back I ate some of my freshly made Bourbon Peach Cobbler, thank you Tyler Florence, and the boys went out on the town to catch up.

Today we took it easy because they were out late. The Wee One LOVED having the Godfather around, it was like constant entertainment as far as he was concerned. Heck, the guy was even willing to change a diaper as long as it was strictly wet. The Wee One was a bit sad when The Godfather had to leave and head back north, but we plan on seeing more of him now that he is back. As of right now the boys are taking a nap, and I am chilling out because I can. =)

Finally, I want to thank Valerie over at A Visible Spectrum for giving me my very first blog award.

Ohmygosh! Thanks! =]
Sounds like you guys had an awesome weekend. I would LOVE to go to a farmers market but I don't know if there are any up here yet...and you're right that restaurant sounds totally sketchy but I'll take your word (and the T.V. shows) word for it.
